I have a 1996 S10 4x4 and have had many problems. My biggest problem is with GM. They stand behind the dealer, not the customer. I had a GM delaer sell me factory fog lights, that turned out to be KC lights. The invoice even said GM factory forg lights. GM wouldn't do anything, even with the lie from the dealership. This is the reason Honda and the foreign auto makers are taking over. Honda got the share of the marker many years ago after they sent all the CVCC's in the US back to Japan for new engines. They stand behind their product and the consumer. GM doesn't care. I will tell you how to beat the GM Dexcool scam. Flush system and add 1/10 quart of 5w30 motor oil to your radiator coolant. You won't buy heater cores, radiators, etc. for at least 100,000 miles. An old Ford Model A mechanic told me about this trick a long time ago. Run 93 octane gas with the blazer and add fuel injection cleaner and octane booster once a month. I get 23 mpg with my 4.3 and have no CPI problems. The oil added to the system lubricates the bearing in the water pump and prevents the buildup from sludging in the system. We need to all share our secrets of how to keep from being dollared to death from defective design. Bosche was the original manufacturer of the Oxygen sensor, so at about every 50,000 miles, replace them from Autozone or someone that sells the Bosche. I have had good luck with Bosche products. My Balzer has 116,000 miles and I just replaced the charcoal cannister, EGR valve, and vacumm lines. Hope this helps. Not to sure if this would work on the Z, but it's something to think about.
